WRO offers students from 6 to 25 years of age, engaging and challenging competitions across 4 main categories. Each category has its own characteristics and offers participants a choice that is not found in many other robotic competitions.
These categories are:
- The Regular Category (WeDo category, Elementary, Junior and Senior)
- The Open Category (WeDo category, Elementary, Junior and Senior)
- WRO Football (Soccer)
- The Advanced Robotics Challenge (ARC)
To participate, students must form teams of 2 or 3 people. Each team is able to work under the supervision of a coach or mentor, who is able to guide them, but not undertake any of the work.
