WRO offers students from 8 to 19 years of age, engaging and challenging competitions across 4 main categories. Each category has its own characteristics and offers participants a choice that is not found in many other robotic competitions.

To participate, students must form teams of 2 or 3 people. Each team is able to work under the supervision of a coach or mentor, who is able to guide them, but not undertake any of the work.
