The following policy updates to the Private School Reopening Policies and Guidelines have been issued for the academic term commencing on 3 January 2021.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Whether operated by the school or by a third-party provider during or after school hours, extracurricular activities remain suspended on school premises.
  • Approved Disinfectants: Locally approved disinfectants may be used in place of EPA-approved disinfectants.
  • Criteria for Reclosure and Incident Management: The protocols for school closure and incident management have been revised.
  • Outdoor Sports: Light athletic activities may be held outdoors during times normally reserved for physical education with social distancing and PPE.
  • Converted Spaces: Additional safety and educational measures are required for classes/bubbles sharing converted spaces.
  • Parent Access: Parents may now enter school premises with a negative PCR test (valid 96-hour) or “emergency use” status on their AlHosn App. School tours for new and prospective parents may resume accordingly.
  • Increased Bus Capacity: Bus capacity has been increased from 50% to between 59% and 66%, depending on the type of vehicle, with continued application of all other safety measures.
  • Mandatory COVID-19 PCR Testing: All staff and students aged 12 and above (not including Students of Determination) who plan to physically return to school must undergo nasopharyngeal PCR testing prior to their return.
  • Physical Return to School of Persons with Chronic Health Conditions: Staff and students with chronic health conditions may now physically return to school with their physician’s approval and a signed risk undertaking form.
  • Maximum Class Size: The maximum number of students allowed per class has been increased from 15 to 30, with 1.5m social distancing and masks for Grade 1 and above. For KG, the class size is capped at 25 students with social distancing. Bubbles for younger children remain at a maximum of 10 students in addition to a dedicated teaching team.
